Our commitment
Reef Reaper Fishing Charters is working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across reefreaperfishing.com — because the Gulf is for everybody, and so is this website. We have not yet completed a full independent audit, so we don’t claim certification; this statement describes what we build and test for today.
What we've built in
- Semantic HTML and landmark structure (header, nav, main, sections, footer)
- A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page
- Keyboard operability as a goal — menus, filters, accordions, species cards, the trip-request form, and the gallery lightbox are built to work without a mouse, and we test these paths as the site evolves
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
- A color palette designed for WCAG AA contrast, reviewed as we ship changes
- Alt text on meaningful images, with decorative media marked hidden — quality is reviewed as content is added, and we fix gaps reported to us
- Reduced-motion support — the scroll-scrub intro and autoplay videos are disabled for users who prefer reduced motion, with static alternatives instead
- Labeled form fields with error announcements tied to each field
- Generous tap targets on primary actions, sized toward the 44×44px guideline
- Text alternatives near decorative videos
Known limitations
We're honest about what's not perfect yet:
- Owner-provided videos do not yet have closed captions. Transcripts and text equivalents are provided in the surrounding copy, and captions are on the roadmap.
- Some owner photography angles limit where overlay text can sit — we use scrims (darkening gradients) to preserve text contrast in those spots.
